2014.03.03-05 Consortium meeting Delft
The IQmulus Consortium meeting was held in Delft 03-05 of March in 2014 hosted by the the Department of Earth and Climate Sciences & Man-Machine Interaction Group of the Technical University of Delft.
The aims of the periodical meeting were to discuss about the deliverables for the second year of the project as well as discussion about the showcases and user requirements.
To summarize the ongoing work about the Processing Services work package, the developments of algorithmsin connection with the 3 main showcases connected to the Test Beds was also highlighted. The first year processing services of highly heterogeneous spatial coverages and point clouds were introduced by WP4. The technical parts of the sections are discussed about the testing environments of these services the minimum criteria for the services and input-output data as well.
During the first day a detailed Walkthrough was presented with exact timelines for each task. The presentation clarifies for each working process where the heterogeneous spatial big data might be even more highlighted. Conversations about the workflows under development and component integration handling geospatial big data were made. What are the functionalities of the workflow manager, job tracker, job manager in the DSL and the I/O interface were discussed. Short presentation was made also about the project website. How is should be developed, which information is missing, how should it be updated compared to the Description of work.
The second day of the meeting the participants have decided to split into 3 groups (Urban, Land and Marine showcases) in order to discuss the services and workflows in detail. Afterwards a short presentation from each scenario was presented what the attendant of each group were discussed about what are the main statements and agreements about the next steps should be taken. Later, an example data has been introduced about the Region of Liguria and about the marine study area. Thedata consists of seamless patches of Gull stream & Goodwin Sands. Some of the patches are obtained by different sensors and they have some overlap with the other sensor data. That opened a discussion on how to display the overlapping different data sources and howto fuse the inputs/results to display for the end user.
The last day of the meeting the participants discussed about the exploitation plans of the project. All IQmulus partner presented their exploitation plan about the benefits and outcome of the IQmulus project and their perspective what would/should IQmulus to be at the end of the project? All presenters explained about the role the organization could (will) commit to perform the IQmulus post project and how their organization positioned to deliver it.
The next meeting going to answer many arising question during the implementation work at the IQmulus Code Camp in the UK.
